MAYA ZELLMAN graduated from UCLA’s Department of World Arts and Cultures with a concentration in dance in 2005 and, since then, has been very active in the professional dance education and performance world. For several years she has been a member of a leading Hip Hop dance company in Los Angeles,  Versa-Style Dance Company, and is also a co-founder of IN/EX Dance Project, a contemporary dance company also based in Los Angeles. She has worked regularly for many other incredible dance companies, most notably, Ballet Folklorico Do Brasil (samba) and Contra-Tiempo (salsa.) As a member of Versa-Style, Maya danced for John Tesh and appeared in his PBS special, “ALIVE: Music and Dance.” Maya is a featured dancer in the documentary film "Furious Beauty" that follows a year in the life of a Hip Hop dancer preparing for a large scale performance.

Maya has had the privilege of touring throughout the United States as well as internationally, performing in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, India, and Israel. She has been invited to teach dance classes internationally, including at the Federal University of Parana in Curiitba, Brazil, Hakvusa be Yaffo in Tel Aviv, Israel, and several workshops in Havana, Cuba. Maya spent six months in Tel Aviv, studying alongside Batsheva Dance Company, learning repertory, and training in GAGA.

Back in Los Angeles, Maya teaches dance in several school programs and studios around Los Angeles, including The Edge Performing Arts Center and Millenium Dance Complex.
